The three game suspension of Kam Williams for a violation of team rules is over, per Buckeye coach Chris Holtmann. He’ll be available for Thursday’s contest at Penn State.
Kam Williams Will Return For The Penn State Game
Kam Williams has done what he needs in order to rejoin the Ohio State basketball team according to Chris Holtmann.
The senior guard was suspended just a couple of hours prior to the Illinois game on February 4 because of a very loose “violation of team rules.” But on Wedesday, Holtmann confirmed that Williams will be made available again as the team heads on the road to play Penn State.
“We had conversations and meetings that I’ll leave private, but he’s fulfilled those (obligations),” Holtmann said. “I don’t know if I can be necessarily certain what it will look like in terms of his role because obviously we’ve played well in this last stretch. He’ll have to earn his way back to whatever role gives our team the best chance of winning.”
It’s clear that Holtmann does not want to upset the rotation completely from what has happened in Williams’ absence, but his threat to hit the outside jumper from beyond the arc should give OSU another threat for opposing teams to be concerned about.
It’s still not clear what exactly got Williams suspended, but it’s now up to him to earn back whatever role he’ll play with the team as it heads into a stretch run for a Big Ten title.
