Ohio State Women Are Bounced From The NCAA Tournament

The struggles in the NCAA tournament continued for the Ohio State women’s basketball team. Despite being the higher seeded and more talented team, the Buckeye women fell to No. 11 seed Central Michigan in a second-round matchup in St. John Arena.

Ohio State picked a bad time to play poor perimeter defense, as Central Michigan splashed three after three without OSU defenders marking and closing out shooters bombing away from the outside.

In the end, the Buckeyes couldn’t keep up in the scoring column and were forced out of their game plan to try and shoot their way back into the game. It didn’t work, and in the end, the Chippewas finished off the Buckeyes by a score of 95-78.

The loss also marked the end of a stellar career by the No. 2 all-time scoring leader in women’s Division 1 NCAA basketball, OSU guard Kelsey Mitchell.

In the end, it is yet another year of Ohio State failing to meet expectations in the NCAA tournament after sailing through the Big Ten.
