Ohio State Beats Denver And Is Headed To The Frozen Four

Ohio State continues its somewhat surprising hockey march here in 2018 — punching its way to the Frozen Four with a 5-1 win over defending national champion Denver.

Ohio State entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed of the Midwest Region, and looked every part of it with a 4-2 win over Princeton Saturday — following it up with the dominating showing Sunday night.

The game was really never in doubt as the Buckeyes jumped on Denver early and continued to have the run of play, going up 3-0 into the 3rd period before the Pioneers finally got a score with a 8:37 left in the game to cut the lead to two.

But Ohio State kept the pressure on, scoring just 30 seconds later to go up by three again, and all but sealed it with an empty netter with 5:44 remaining in the game.

The Buckeyes will be joined by two other Big Ten teams as both Michigan and Notre Dame also got through to make it three Big Ten teams in the Frozen Four.

OSU will be facing off with Minnesota-Duluth on Thursday, April 5 in the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Minnesota. It’s just the second ever appearance in the Frozen Four for the Buckeye program.
