Ohio State’s Romeo Picks Up NCAA’s Elite 90 Award

Ohio State’s goalie has been lights out on the frozen pond this year, but he also just picked up a prestigious award for his work in the classroom.

It’s no secret that junior Sean Romeo has been one of the key reasons Ohio State has made a run to the Frozen Four. His 2.06 goals against average and .927 save percentage is among the leaders in Collegiate hockey, and he was just named the most outstanding player in the Midwest Regional of the NCAA Hockey tournament.

But the Elite90 Award given out to him at the Frozen Four reception Wednesday night is in recognition of the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s championships.

Romeo is a finance and accounting major and carries a cumulative GPA of 3.728 as an Academic All-Big Ten selection and Ohio State scholar-athlete.

Ohio State takes on Minnesota-Duluth in the first of two semi-finals of the Frozen Four Thursday night at 6 PM Eastern in the Xcel Engergy Center in St. Paul, MN.
