Ohio State Football: Billy Price Sends Doctor’s Note To NFL Prior To Draft
And you thought a doctor’s note was only needed for K-12 school absences on test day.
In a bit of a bizarre, yet somewhat genius move, former Ohio State center and Remington Award winner Billy Price has been sending around a doctor’s note detailing his speedy recovery and expected ability to be fully healthy in time for training camp in the fall.
The move was discovered via a Tweet by Adam Schefter of ESPN who has apparently gotten a copy of this note from one of his NFL sources.
Price had been projected as a potential first-rounder, but a partial pectoral tear during workouts at the combine may have soured his draft status a bit, at least in some NFL circles. As such, he had slid down some of the mock draft boards as of late, but still penciled in somewhere in the second round in most projections.
So, Price used the ‘ole doctor’s excuse to try to get in front of any concerns that some NFL scouts and executives may have on his ability to come in and be fully healthy and 100 percent for the season.
According to him, and now his doctor, Price already has full range of motion back, so it appears as though his recovery is going well.
There’s no telling whether this move will have an impact on him jumping back up in the draft, but you have to give him and his supporters credit for being creative.
What I wonder is if any of the NFL teams took up the offer from the doctor to call and talk it over?
There’s no truth to the rumor that the family dog ate his draft paperwork yet as far as we know.
