The Last Time Michigan Beat Ohio State In Football...

In light of UM’s recent graduation ceremonies where former Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson made a rather… unique guarantee about the coming 2018 edition of The Game, we at Buckeyewire thought we would take a look at what life was like the last time TTUN actually beat the Bucks on the gridiron.

The Last Time Michigan Beat Ohio State In Football…

November 26, 2011: At the time of this writing, exactly 2,346 days since the last time the Wolverines came away victorious over our beloved Buckeyes.

How do I know this number? There is an entire webpage dedicated to counting the days as they go by. You can find it here if you’d like to keep track yourself or remind friend who has misguided college football allegiances: How Many Days Since Michigan Beat Ohio State?

Maybe a countdown like this could have helped poor Charles Woodson as he gave the spring commencement address at UM and tried to do his best Jim Tressel impersonation by  guaranteeing a win over the Buckeyes this fall. Only two problems: It was far less eloquent than the Vest and it was, well… inaccurate.

Jimmy T spoke clearly and accurately on a winter evening to a packed Value City Arena saying:

“I can assure you that you will be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Mich., on the football field.”

Woodson on the other hand had this to say…

“But I’m telling you here today, 212 days from now, your Michigan Wolverines team will go down to Columbus, march into that stadium and we will beat you know who to bring back that familiar feeling of victory back to The University of Michigan again,”

212 days from time of quote: Monday, November 26, 2018. I know traditions change, but I don’t think we’ll ever see The Game played on a Monday.

Either way, it’s been a long time since Michigan last beat OSU. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and see what was going on back in 2011.

A glimpse seven years into the past and it seems like an eternity.

Here’s to hoping that Charles Woodson’s prediction skills are as shaky as his math skills.

Go Bucks! Forever Beat Blue!
