Both the Ohio State men’s and women’s teams have done enough to get a shot in the NCAA tournament, and we have the details.
Ohio State Men’s And Women’s Tennis Make The NCAA Tournament
It’s been a great winter for Ohio State athletics, and the hits just keep on coming in the spring.
The No. 3 Ohio State men’s tennis team won the Big Ten title over Illinois last weekend to cap off another run to the NCAAs, while the women’s team ultimately fell short of the conference crown, but still found a way to elbow their way into the women’s field for the fifth-straight year.
For the men, they’ll be hosting a first round matchup at the Stickney Tennis Center on Friday, May 11 at 1 PM, and have drawn East Tennessee State (16-7) from the Sourthern Conference.
If the men take care of business there, it will then take on the winner of the other two teams in Columbus, Kentucky and Virginia Tech. Those two match up at 10 AM.
If OSU makes it through those four teams, it will then advance to the round of sixteen in Winston-Salem, NC.
For the women, their road will be a little tougher. They’ll have to travel to Nashville to take on lower seed Clemson with the hopes of advancing to then meet the winner of No.1 seed Vanderbilt/Alabama State.
Winning the first round would also result in the women traveling to Wake Forest to grind it out in the championship round of sixteen.
