Take that.

The No. 14 Michigan softball team ran the Buckeyes off the softball diamond yesterday 8-0 to clinch the regular season Big Ten title, and it didn’t look good at all.

But Ohio State bounced back today, turning the tables on the Wolverines by pounding out nine hits total, scoring ten runs in the first three innings, and then holding off the Maize and Blue’s offense to end the game after just the fifth inning by way of run rule, 10-1.

Buckeye pitcher Shelby McCombs struck out six Wolverines and allowed just four hits to keep the Wolverines’ offense at bay. McCombs also helped herself at the plate by delivering a three-run home run in the 2nd inning.

Lilli Piper started all the scoring in the first inning by belting her 19th home run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead, and it was all downhill from there. Ohio State who improved to 34-13 overall and 14-8 in the Big Ten. The loss dropped Michigan to 43-10 and 18-3.

Ohio State finishes in a tie for fourth with Northwestern in the Big Ten regular season, but will get the No. 5 seed in the upcoming B1G tournament.
