He may have played for Michigan initially, but Ohio State is now in his blood. Former Ohio State graduate transfer guard Andrew Dakich is reportedly being taken on as a graduate assistant coach at Ohio State.

Well at least he fell on the right side of the fence, instead of going to the dark side.

According to a report from Adam Jardy of the Columbus Dispatch, former Ohio State graduate transfer guard and Michigan Wolverine Andrew Dakich has agreed to stay with the Ohio State basketball program. He’ll stay on as a graduate assistant while he works on completing his shooling.

Dakich came to Ohio State after the Wolverines no longer had a spot for him on their roster last year. He had initially announced his intentions to go play for Quinnipiac, but the pull to play at another Big Ten school was too great for him to pass up.

For Ohio State, the arrangement worked out very well. Dakich filled a valuable roll as another guard that could handle the ball and provide relief for the likes of C.J. Jackson, Kam Williams, and Jae’Sean Tate.

Now, it appears, Dakich and OSU will be able to continue that arrangement — albeit from a coaching input standpoint. The fact that Dakich is the son of a coach, with former Indiana and Bowling Green head basketball coach Dan Dakich being his father — surely has its merits — and maybe the younger Dakich will now begin the launch of his own coaching career.

If only he can win over his teammates first …

This is, of course, tongue in cheek and head coach Chris Holtmann and Ohio State is glad to have him on board.
