Ohio State Baseball Falls To Purdue In Second Game Of Weekend Series

Game two of the weekend series against 3rd place Purdue didn’t go as well as game one.

The game started out fine with both teams trading runs through the first two innings when Tyler Cowles took a 2-0 pitch in the bottom of the second inning and deposited it over the right field wall to tie things up, but things began to get out of hand after that.

The sixth inning ended up being the most important of the game with Purdue pushing five runs across with some help. OSU pitching hit a man and walked one home with the bases loaded before leadoff hitter Harry Shipley hit a base-clearing double.

From there, Purdue pitching was able to hold the OSU offense at bay, and Pudue walked away with an 8-2 victory. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 32-17 overall, 12-8 in Big Ten play. Purdue improves to 30-17, 14-5.

Both teams will square off again Sunday at 1:05 PM at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. This is the point in the season where every game will be meaningful as the Buckeyes try to secure a solid spot in the Big Ten tournament and put themselves in position to reach the NCAAs.
