Ohio State Men’s Tennis Advances To The NCAA’s Round Of Sixteen

The Buckeye men’s tennis program has it going.

Ohio State continues to dominate during its run through the NCAA tournament. This time it downed Kentucky in another 4-0 sweep to advance to the round of sixteen for the thirteenth consecutive season.

The Buckeyes won its four-team tournament in Columbus without surrendering a single point, first against East Tennessee State, and then today versus the No. 26 ranked Wildcats.

Now OSU is off to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where it will most likely have to deal with more heat than it is used to against a more competitive field. The program — despite its recent run of success — has yet to attain its first allusive outdoor title.

Ohio State has been especially tough at home, going 26-0 at home in NCAA tournament matches, and a ridiculous 233-1 in Columbus since the start of the 2006 season.

Next up is a match against Minnesota on Friday, May 18 at Noon. The match will take place at the Wake Forest tennis complex, as will the rest of the NCAA finals.

The Buckeyes have already beaten Minnesota twice this season. Once during the Big Ten season 5-2 on March 30 in Minneapolis, and then again in the Big Ten tournament 4-0.
