Ohio State Softball Runs Into Dead End Against Florida

The Ohio State softball season is over.

The Buckeyes played well in the regional, defeating USF in the tournament twice to earn a spot as one of the final two teams in the Gainesville regional, but the Florida Gators were just too tough.

Shelby McCombs had a gritty effort, surrendering just two hits against a Gator lineup with a slew of big bats, but in the end, there were just too many walks and too much of senior Gator pitcher Aleshia Ocasio.

Ocasio limited the Ohio State offense with one of the best drop ball fastballs in all of college softball, finishing with a no-hitter and allowing just three base runners with three walks.

The Buckeyes will not head into the offseason with the needle clearly pointed upward. The team returns a lot of talent and will continue to try and improve a program that is on the rise.

It was a decent showing in Gainesville, but one that can be looked at as a measuring stick of where the program would like to head.
