Ohio State Drops First Game of B1G Baseball Tourney To Purdue

Ohio State just made life more difficult if it wants to finish its season with a run in the Big Ten Baseball Tournament by dropping its first game against No. 2 seed Purdue 8-2. Now the Buckeyes must go through the gauntlet known as the loser’s bracket to battle back.

The Boilermakers pounded out thirteen hits and used a five-run sixth inning to break open a close 3-2 affair that Ohio State simply could not dig out of. In fact, the Bucks couldn’t break the code against Boilermaker pitching the rest of the way.

Now Ohio State must turn things around quickly and play No. 6 Iowa  Thursday at 10 AM. The loser will go home, while the winner will still have a long climb back for any chance of playing for the title.

More than that though, the loss will only make things more touch and go with Ohio State’s chances at the NCAA tournament if it doesn’t string together at least a couple of wins here in Omaha.

Stay tuned …
