Big losses can ruin any Buckeye Fan’s day, but what about close shaves? Here’s some of the nail-biting wins that took a few years off many Ohio State fans’ lives with Urban Meyer prowling the sideline.
Ohio State’s Most Emotionally Exhausting Wins By Year Under Urban Meyer
Few programs enjoy the sustained success Ohio State has for decades. Its fans seldom have to endure a season to forget. Instead, it’s always an optimistic maybe next year.
Even at their lowest point in recent memory (2011), the Buckeyes managed to snag Urban Meyer from retirement and follow up a seven loss season – the most losses in school history – with an undefeated 12-0 record. It’s no wonder Ohio State fans are arguably the most passionate fan base in college football. There’s a lot to love about winning.
Sure, like other programs, Ohio State has devastating losses. You know, those losses that shake your confidence in every game moving forward that season and make you post on social media your thoughts as to what the coaching staff should do if it wants to win. That’s great. Buckeye fans stay engaged like no other fan base.
Here’s the problem — the Buckeyes don’t lose enough to get the negativity out of fans’ systems sometimes, so there’s frustration to be had on the positive side of the ledger as well. Correct, winning just is not enough these days on the banks of the Olentangy.
Sometimes, it’s the wins with which Buckeye Nation finds the most fault with as they walk out of the stadium questioning the team chemistry, coaching and effort. Other times, those wins are so exciting that we are physically tired as a result of being tense for almost four hours.
So let’s go there and take a take a look at the most emotionally exhausting victory each year of Urban Meyer’s tenure at THE Ohio State University.
