Heading into the 2018 NBA Draft, former Ohio State forward Keita Bates-Diop was largely considered to be a late first round pick at worst. I mean leading the Big Ten in scoring, making it as a second team All-American and being recognized as the Big Ten Player of the Year has to account for something right?

Wrong actually.

If you are like me, you sat and waited, and waited. And then waited some more as Diop’s name continued to slide. It wasn’t until Minnesota took him with the No. 48 overall pick before the dream of playing in the NBA became a reality.

But why did the versatile 6-8 Diop fall so far? Don’t count me as one that agrees wholeheartedly with them, but here are three reasons nonetheless.
