Boom! Ohio State Flips Highly Touted Michigan State QB Recruit

Ohio State held its Friday Night Lights annual recruiting event indoors Friday night because of the threat of inclement weather, and that wasn’t the only thing raining down.

We often don’t know the full scope of what players are attending the event — and especially this year with the move up in date — so everyone was in scramble mode trying to figure it all out. There are always surprises when players show up and become a part of all the festivities.

This year, arguably the most surprising development was when four-star Michigan State quarterback commit Dwan Mathis trotted out to sling a few balls around. Couple that with MSU head coach Mark Dantonio’s record of pulling scholarship offers from kids that show interest in other schools, and some drama was sure to unfold.

That drama came to an end today as Mathis tweeted out his flip to Ohio State, ending a soap opera type Buckeye quarterback search for the 2019 class.

Out of Belleville, Michigan, Mathis is 6-1, 195 lbs., and known as the ninth best pro-type signal-caller out there for the class. He is the No. 251 overall prospect according to 247Sports.

Mathis becomes the 12th member of Ohio State’s recruiting class, with the watch for more on the way with the end of the camps and Friday Night Lights.
