Baker Mayfield Shows Up Ohio State, Does Espy Award Plant On National TV

Baker Mayfield won the ESPY Award for the Best College Male Athlete last night. If that wasn’t enough, he did a mock plant of the award just like the flag plant he did in Ohio Stadium last fall.

Baker Mayfield Shows Up Ohio State, Does Espy Award Plant On National TV

Someone might want to remind Baker Mayfield that he now plays for an Ohio team in the NFL. They are called the Cleveland Browns, and he’s been tabbed as the guy to make them relevant as the No. 1 overall pick.

There’s a lot of crossover between Browns fans and Ohio State fans, and they were sure to be sour yesterday. Firs off, Ohio State national title and world champion wrestler Kyle Snyder wasn’t even nominated for the College Athlete of the Year Award. He lost out to other athletes and to the former Oklahoma quarterback.

But that wasn’t all. As he walked off the stage with the award in hand, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner mocked a flag plant and placed the ESPY down on a side podium.

That’s right. Maybe he didn’t quite learn his lesson after getting lit up in the media after a flag planting in the center of the O in the Horseshoe last September.

There are of course many other things going on in this world, and in sports, that are a lot worse than some of the antics that Mayfield has brought out from time to time, but he might want to learn a little humility and maturity as the potential face of an Ohio franchise.

Ohio State fans are now supposed to be your friends, not your enemies Baker.
