Bosa, Dobbins Recognized As Preseason Big Ten Outstanding Players

These sorts of things don’t really mean squat for the upcoming season, but all the preseason watch lists and awards are making their rounds. It’s more a recognition for things already accomplished than what’s going to take place at a college campus near you this fall.

In advance of the annual Big Ten Media Days this week, the conference in the heartland got in on the act and released five players each from both the East and West Divisions as preseason Outstanding Players.

Ohio State was the only school with more than one player in the East with both defensive end Nick Bosa and running back J.K. Dobbins appearing. Wisconsin has a pair of players selected from the West Divison. The complete list is as follows:

EAST DIVISION

Rashan Gary, Jr., DL, Michigan

Brian Lewerke, Jr., QB, Michigan State

Nick Bosa, Jr., DE, Ohio State

J.K. Dobbins, So., RB, Ohio State

Trace McSorley, Sr., QB, Penn State

WEST DIVISION

Noah Fant, Jr., TE, Iowa

Stanley Morgan Jr., Sr., WR, Nebraska

Paddy Fisher, So., LB, Northwestern

T.J. Edwards, Sr., LB, Wisconsin

Jonathan Taylor, So., RB, Wisconsin

Nick Bosa is coming off of a season in which he was honored as the Smith-Brown Defensive Player of the Year in the conference, and is expected to have a huge junior year.

Dobbins was inserted in the backfield as a starter because of a hamstring injury to Weber. All he did was set the all-time freshman rushing record at Ohio State.
