Jones, Prince, and Jordan Make Outland Preseason Watch List

As we continue our journey through the season of college football preseason watch list award announcements, it’s time to stop the train with the Outland Trophy. The Outland, first awarded in 1946, goes to the nation’s best college football interior lineman. Both offensive and defensive interior lineman can — and have — won the award.

To that end, the folks at the Football Writer’s Association of America released their preseason Outland Trophy Watch List and there’s three Buckeyes that have been recognized.

Offensive linemen Michael Jordan and Isaiah Prince, as well as defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones are appearing on the list along with 82 other players. The Big Ten leads all conferences with thirteen candidates on the watch list.

The candidates will be revisited throughout the season with the winners announced on ESPN during the Home Depot College Football Awards show on December 6.

In the history of the award, four Buckeyes have taken home the honor, the last of which was offensive tackle Orlando Pace in 1996. Jim Parker (1956), Jim Stillwagon (1970), and John Hicks (1973) were the others.
