Former Ohio State Offensive Lineman Jack Mewhort Announces Retirement

Yes folks, the news cycle doesn’t stop. Despite the breaking news of an alleged cover up of domestic abuse at Ohio State, there are other noteworthy things that deserve to be reported.

To that end, another former Buckeye has announced his retirement from football today. This comes on the tails of former Ohio State linebacker Joshua Perry also making a similar announcement earlier this week.

Former offensive-lineman Jack Mewhort appeared in an article on Colts.com today by Andrew Walker announcing his placement on the Reserve/Retired list of the NFL.

Mewhort played for Ohio State from 2009-2013 and was honored as First Team All-American in his senior season. After his career at Ohio State, he was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round.

He made a splash in the league during his first two seasons, but then several knee injuries kept him from staying on the field and realizing his full potential beginning in 2016. He worked diligently to get back to full health and was signed to a new contract this offseason, but the knees just won’t cooperate.

Mewhort had great things to say about the Colts organization.

I would like to thank the Irsay family and the entire Colts organization for giving me the opportunity to live a childhood dream. The fans and the city of Indianapolis have treated me like one of their own, and I am forever grateful. Wearing the Horseshoe was one of the biggest honors I have ever known, and I will always bleed blue. Go Colts!

We wish Mewhort well in his future endeavors. Always a Buckeye!
