Breaking: Urban Meyer Put On Paid Leave By Ohio State

Ohio State has placed head coach Urban Meyer on paid leave, per an announcement from the school. It appears as though the school will conduct its own investigation to get to the bottom of this story.

Bruce Feldman later confirmed and added further commentary on comments from Meyer himself. It was short, but definitive.

In case you’ve been buried under a Buckeye tree, earlier today, a report surfaced from college football insider Brett McMurphy that text messages and statements from the wife of former Ohio State assistant coach Zach Smith alleged a cover up of domestic abuse.

In case you need caught up, you can read in its entirety here.

Also released was an exclusive interview by Stadium Sports with the victim Courtney Smith — detailing further information on the abuse, how she was encouraged to drop any charges, and whether she believes Urban Meyer was aware.

As the statement says, Ryan Day will be the acting head coach while Meyer is on paid leave. There is no timetable attached to the leave, and there is sure to be even more information forthcoming.

Stay with us as we continue to stay on top of the developing story. Things are sure to get interesting over the next few days and weeks.
