The Misguided Fan Rally For Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer

Ohio State fans organized a fan rally for Urban Meyer Monday evening. It was not a good look to say the least.

It’s not often that I go outside the lines of sports here, but I just couldn’t sit back and watch the organized fan rally for Urban Meyer and not come away feeling a bit oily and embarrassed.

Look, I get it to some degree — this small minority of Buckeye fans that seem to think that showing support for a beloved coach of a generation is the right thing to do given the rush to judgement before all the facts are present.

But was this really thought out well?

Nobody Knows The Full Story Yet

I don’t know what Urban Meyer knew or was privy to more than what Brett McMurphy, Clay Travis or any other know-it-all that seems to have a keyboard, gavel, and morale complex to spew hate about what’s going on in Columbus.

Not one fan or journalist was there when the police investigated any allegations, or in the room when text messages and photos were poured over. Nobody with a Buckeye Battle Cry ringtone was present to know what kind of physical altercations took place between Courtney and Zach Smith.

Not one single talking-head was there to witness any of the conversations between Smith, the law, Meyer, and his superiors.

And neither were the 200 or so that decided to get in their cars make signs that made no sense (ahem, McMurphy doesn’t work for ESPN), and drive up to Ohio Stadium to put on a clown show for all the world to see.
