ESPN Playoff Predictor Has Ohio State On Outside Looking In

While we published recently that ESPN’s first set of rankings has Ohio State at No. 3 in the country, that doesn’t necessarily mean the sports media giant has the Buckeyes in the playoff.

In fact, just recently, ESPN’s Playoff Predictor shows the Big Ten as one of the Power Five conferences being left out of all the fun yet again. It has Ohio State as the Big Ten team with the best shot, with only a 37% chance. But that’s behind five other teams — Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Washington.

Look for a lot of hand-wringing and gnashing of the teeth if this actually holds true because not only would the Big Ten be left out, but so too would the Big 12 and Pac-12.

Of course the SEC gets the benefit of the doubt once again with two of the top three best chances. It’s not like this will actually hold true, but let the chaos and arguing begin in earnest.

Here comes college football season.
