ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit gets a lot of slack from Buckeye fans and he’s sure to get more after picking Penn State in a slew of college football categories, including them to win the conference and make the College Football Playoff.
If Kirk Herbstreit moved from Columbus to get away from the rabid Ohio State fans as he once alluded to, then he may have to grab a Visa and move out of the country entirely after his annual Herbie Awards aired on ESPN.
That’s because the former Ohio State quarterback went all in on Penn State by predicting them to win the Big Ten East, the conference crown, and to punch its ticket to the College Football Playoff.
Though he gave some love to Nick Bosa of Ohio State for the best pass rusher in the country, he gave Penn State the nod over the Buckeyes because OSU must travel to Happy Valley for yet another nauseating white-out at night early on in the season.
It’ll certainly be hard for a first-time starting quarterback to pull victory out of that hornet’s nest, so nobody can blame Herbie for going against the Buckeyes in that contest.
We may even be looking at another tiebreaker scenario for the East Division. It’s already kept Ohio State from going to Indy for the Big Ten Championship in 2015 and 2016.
Herbstreit also singled out Trace McSorley as the Heisman favorite and named the white-out atmosphere as the best environment in college football, so the We Are love is running deep for the lead ESPN analyst year.
Let’s hope he’s wrong.
