Ohio State Releases Depth Chart For Week One vs. Oregon State

Ohio State has released the first depth chart of the season. There aren’t a lot of surprises, but some things to take away.

The media got to actually ask questions to acting head coach Ryan Day and co-defensive coordinator Greg Schiano yesterday, and now we get to look at the first depth chart of the season.

There aren’t a whole lot of surprises, but here are some items of note:

  • As expected Dwayne Haskins is the starter under center with Tate Martell the backup.
  • Thayer Munford and Joshua Alabi are listed as co-starters at left tackle. Munford drew rave reviews from the coaching staff in the spring and summer, but he’s apparently been nursing an injury. We’ll have to see how those two are used going forward.
  • Michael Jordan is the starting center. It was assumed that Brady Taylor would get first crack through well-beyond the spring, but this is likely an attempt to get the best five offensive lineman on the field.
  • Isaiah Prince will remain at right tackle and not on the left side as many assumed in the spring.
  • J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber are listed as co-starters at tailback. We’ve been saying all along to not forget about Mike Weber.
  • Johnathon Cooper is listed as the co-starter with Chase Young. With as many good things that have been said about Young, Cooper must have impressed just as well. Defensive-end must be loaded again.
  • Isaiah Pryor gets the nod at the highly competitive safety spot opposite of Jordan Fuller. That was probably the main position up for grabs down the stretch, and could change as the season progresses.
  • Linebacker Tuf Borland is not listed on the depth chart. He must not quite be ready to come back from injury just yet.
