Harrison: Final Thoughts Before Ohio State vs. Oregon State

Each week we bring you some random thoughts before Ohio State takes to the gridiron. For week one, here are some nuggets about the game against Oregon State.

  • So It’s OSU vs. OSU. Last time Ohio State played another OSU, it was the Alamo Bowl in 2004. In that contest Jim Tressel’s Buckeyes and their killer tattoos, defeated pre-grass eating Les Miles’ Oklahoma State team 33-7.
  • I kind of feel bad for Oregon State. I mean, it might have been the worst Power Five team in all the country last year and still has a long, long way to go before it’s competitive against quality opponents again. It’s in no condition to fly across three time zones and waltz into the ‘Shoe for a noon game against a top five opponent.
  • Who get’s more carries at running back for Ohio State? Many feel it’ll be J.K. Dobbins, but man — don’t forget about Mike Weber.
  • I’m curious to see what this Ohio State team becomes. I know the coaching staff will go for balance, but will it turn Dwayne Haskins loose, or stay more with the power-run game and mix in the pass to keep defenses honest?
  • I’m worried that Nick Bosa is literally going to break someone in half this year.
  • I know it’s only week one, but is anyone else feel like an immature teenager when it comes to new co-defensive coordinator Alex Grinch’s last name? Bring on the Michigan Christmas jokes.
