Rutgers comes to Columbus for an early Big Ten conference matchup, and it hasn’t gone well for the Scarlet Knights since joining the league. Let’s dive right in and give you five things to watch for in this one.

Can Rutgers Close The Gap Against Ohio State?

It’s a good question honestly. Why? Because the Scarlet Knights haven’t scored against Ohio State for two-straight years now. In 2016, the final score was 58-0 in Columbus. Last year, it was 56-0 in Piscataway. You math majors out there then know that Rutgers has been outscored 114-0 the last two contests.

Prior to that, it didn’t go much better. In Rutgers first year in the Big Ten (2014), The Buckeyes won 56-17, and in 2015 it was 49-7. That’s gonna leave a mark all the way around. That’s a total landslide score of 219-24 in the four years these two have played.

If Rutgers is going to ever be anything in the Big Ten, it has to close that gap against the Ohio State’s of the conference, and it starts by scoring some points against a very athletic defense Saturday.
