5 B1G Things To Watch For Week 2

We’re all Ohio State, but we’ve got Big Ten blood flowing through the veins as well. Because of that, we bring you five things to watch in Big Ten play prior to the week ahead. Let’s roll for week two.

Week one was interesting for the Big Ten to say the least. Michigan looked very average, Michigan State struggled to pull one out against Utah State, and likewise for the overtime thriller in Happy Valley against Appalachian State.

So what about week two? There are some relatively juicy matchups and things to watch again as we start to figure some things out as the calendar continues to turn.

Michigan State Has A Sneaky Tough Game Against Arizona State In The Desert?

Maybe it’s not even that sneaky. In fact, I was a bit surprised to see that Michigan State was favored by seven in this one — especially with what we saw last week.

Going out to Tempe has not been too kind to Big Ten teams, and there’s reason to believe this one won’t be a walk between the daisies either. Arizona State looked like a real, live football team behind Herm Edwards in week one, and it’s always a challenge to fly all the way across the country and play in the heat of the Sonoran desert.

More than that, Michigan State’s defense looked confused at times last week and the offense struggled to get the running game going consistently. I am officially putting the Spartans on upset alert, but with that comes a great opportunity to right some of the wrongs from last week.
