Scarlet And Gray Rewind: MVP, Play Of The Game And More Vs. Rutgers

Week two looked a lot like week one with Ohio State dominating another opponent. As we do weekly, here’s our Scarlet and Gray rewind following the Buckeyes’ dismantling of Big Ten foe Rutgers

Airing of Grievances

For the love of all that’s good about this game, can we please stop the knee-jerk reactions after just two weeks of play? Apparently every team that’s undefeated will remain so and make the College Football Playoff, teams that have close shaves are overrated and a house of cards, and conference sweet tea and grits is the best in the land because of its record so far.

I say this every single year. Slow down. These non-conference games are hard to figure out and teams are still finding themselves early on in the season.

That being said, clearly Ohio State is the best team in the country, will go undefeated and smoke both Clemson and Alabama in the College Football Playoff … or something like that.

Player Of The Game

Dwayne Haskins, QB – The passing yardage wasn’t what it was in week one, but it didn’t need to be since Haskins grabbed a clipboard and sat next to the Gatorade cooler early in the first half. Still, the kid threw for 233 yards on 20 of 23 passes and launched another four touchdowns.
More than that, he showed the same ability to pick out open receivers and put the ball on the money. It’s only week two, but it’s been a long time since we’ve seen this type of passing threat in Columbus.
