Ohio State fans weren’t the only ones that noticed the dynamic exploits of freshman backup quarterback Tate Martell.

Today, the Big Ten named him its Co-Freshman of the Week after a record-setting Saturday. Martell broke an Ohio State passing accuracy record by going 10 for 10, breaking the old record of 10 for 11 held by Bill Mrukowski in a game against UCLA.

Martell threw for 121 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for another 95 yards, including his highlight reel 47-yard scamper through the Rutgers’ defense for another TD.

The other Co-Freshman of the week was Indiana running back Stevie Scott.

We are now two weeks into the season and Ohio State has had a player recognized by the Big Ten for two-straight weeks. Dwayne Haskins was the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Week after the blowout of Oregon State in week one.

Ohio State and TCU tussle Saturday at 8:00 PM.
