Yeah Ohio State football is in the throws of another potentially special season, but the Buckeye basketball team is making a lot of noise in the college basketball world right now.

That’s because Chris Holtmann got more huge news today with the announcement of four-star forward E.J. Liddell’s commitment to the 2019 class via his Twitter account today.

Liddell — out of Belleville, Illinois — is the top rated recruit in Illinois, the No. 48 ranked player in the nation, and tenth ranked power forward in the country according to 247Sports.

Simply put; the 6-7, 220 pounder was the biggest fish Ohio State was still after, and it puts a cap on a heck of a 2019 class that numbers just three players, but with all kids among the top 50 of the country. The class is now rated as the No. 4 class behind USC, Louisville, and Kentucky. USC and Louisville have five players on verbal for the class.

The Buckeyes already had commitments from the top recruit in Ohio, Alonzo Gaffney out of Cleveland Garfield for the 2019 class, as well as five-star point guard D.J. Carton out of Bettendorf, Iowa.

It’s nothing but a stellar job by Holtmann and his staff. They’ve been able to turn the momentum of the program around in no time and land some pretty special players that should set the program up for some exceptionally thrilling years ahead.

We’ve been telling you all along to stop thinking of Ohio State as just a football school.
