As we do every Tuesday, we bring you the audio of Urban Meyer’s portion of the Big Ten Coaches’ weekly teleconference.

You can listen to it in its entirety in the above Tweet Link courtesy of 105.7 The Zone in Columbus, but here are some of the highlights:

  • Coach Meyer talks about linebacker Pete Werner and his incredible future at Ohio State.
  • Urban was asked about his depth and why the Buckeyes were able to take care of ranked teams in the second half. He mentioned the depth and quality of players, but also the conditioning.
  • The penalties have been a concern this year. Meyer mentioned that there have been far too many — especially in the kicking game. They work extremely hard at mitigating them with fundamentals.
  • Meyer was asked about using a two-back set to help with the concerns on the running game. They have discussed everything, but the team has to find a way to get defenses from loading up on the run as the first concern.
  • Brian Hartline is doing a really good job with the receiving corps, but that group has a lot of leadership and accountability as well, and makes it easier to coach.
