Buckeye Battle Cry: 3 Bold Predictions For The Rest Of The Big Ten Season

Every Friday, we ask our writers to weigh in on a hot topic in the Big Ten. This time, we ask for each staff member to come up with one bold prediction for the rest of the Big Ten football season.

The college football season is about half over and we’ve definitely seen some surprises and interesting developments thus far.

As we head into the second half of the year, we’re sure to see more, and we’re asking our staff to predict the future and come up with one bold prediction each for the rest of the year.

Wisconsin will win the West Division, and ultimately earn a spot in the Rose Bowl.

Let’s be honest: most people gave up on the Badgers after their head-scratching loss to BYU. To some degree, that makes sense. After all, the Cougars won that contest by playing Wisconsin-style football. If a “minor league” school can beat the Badgers at their own game, why couldn’t the other B1G schools?

While that argument makes sense logically, it ignores what really happened in that contest.

Simply put: Wisconsin had a bad day. The fact of the matter is that Badgers have a very physical team that can beat anyone. Paced by a bruising running game, UW will defeat Penn State in Happy Valley. This upset will force the Rose Bowl to select the Badgers over the Nittany Lions.
