Ohio State is in a streak of games that it’s favored to win handily in, and that was the case in this one against Minnesota. However, it wasn’t as easy as one would think.

Here’s five things we learned from this one …

Where’s The Running Game?

Ohio State is a program built on the foundation of running the football. The talent to do that is still there, but it has taken a backseat to Dwayne Haskins and the lasers he continues to sling downfield.

Here’s the problem with not utilizing the running game though; if you don’t practice it in-game situations, you don’t get that much better. You can simulate a game environment all you want, but the intensity and emotion is different in front of the big lights.

Things weren’t any better in this one and this team is starting to resemble a Big Twelve program rather than one that can push you around, open up holes and impose its own will.

In this one, Ohio State only managed 92 total yards on a whopping 32 rushing attempts for just 2.9 yards per carry. That’s not going to get it done, and it’s even more amazing that those types of efforts are occurring when Haskins has been so good through the air.

Back to the drawing board.
