We’ve already had some comments from Urban Meyer about Nick Bosa’s departure via a statement released by Ohio State, but he had to address it as well on the weekly Big Ten teleconference.

Find out what he said, and also get his comments surrounding several other topics via the Tweet link above from our friends at 105.7 The Zone in Columbus.

Here are some of the high points of what he had to say:

  • Myer was asked about Nick Bosa. He said he was hopeful, but not surprised at his decision to focus on the NFL.
  • He reiterated that guys that have already been stepping up like Chase Young, Jonathon Cooper, Jashon Cornell, and Tyler Friday need to continue to play well.
  • Meyer said the conversation with the Bosa family on the decision to withdraw from Ohio State was an emotional one and one the family didn’t take lightly. The Bosa family has and always will mean a lot to the program.
  • It is unclear in what capacity Bosa will be around the program going forward, or if he will at all as he focuses on getting healthy for the NFL.
  • Damon Arnette is questionable for Saturday leaving a huge hole against a prolific passing team. It’s unclear weather Jeffrey Okudah or Shaun Wade will get the start if he can’t go.
  • Defensive tackle Haskell Garrett has been getting some time at defensive end because of the injuries at defensive end, but he’ll be needed on the inside and outside going forward.
