Harrison: Final Thoughts Before Ohio State vs. Purdue

Each week we bring you some random thoughts before Ohio State takes to the gridiron. Here is our publisher’s final thoughts before the Buckeyes take on a dangerous Purdue team.

  • Ohio State is catching this Purdue team at the wrong time. Early in the year, it was like the little engine that thought it could, and now David Blough is throwing the ball all over the yard and making big play after big play. It’s more like a freight train coming your way now.
  • Still, the Buckeyes are the better team, but don’t for one minute think this one’s going to be easy. In fact, most of our staff agree that this will be a tight one.
  • Jeff Brohm has this program pointed in the right direction for sure. Remember when Darrell Hazell tried to sell the fact that his program was showing improvement because it won two games instead of one his sophomore year? There is real, live improvement with Brohm calling the shots.
  • You might not know it, but David Blough is actually averaging more yards throwing the ball than Dwayne Haskins since he was given the keys to the offense as the No. 1 guy. It’s a true story from the Missouri game on.
  • Ohio State has as deep, seasoned, and talented receiver corps, but Purdue’s true freshman sensation Rondale Moore will be the best receiver on the field Saturday night. He’s worth the price of admission — even in West Lafayette.
  • By the way, is there an East Lafayette?
  • I don’t know what I hate more, the “World’s Biggest Drum” or that weird choo-choo that comes out of the tunnel there at Ross-Ade Stadium. It’s a toss-up really.
  • There might be 1,100 yards between the two teams in this one. Of course last time we thought that, Ohio State and Penn State played a rather low scoring game comparatively speaking. Yes, We Are … winners.
  • Whenever Ohio State travels to Purdue, I can’t help but remember the Holy Buckeye play. Here it is so you can relive it. You’re welcome.
