Big Ten Football Power Rankings After Week Eight

Each week, we assess the body of work for all the Big Ten teams and update you with our Big Ten Power Rankings. Here’s where we are after eight weeks of games. We have a new No. 1 after Ohio State’s embarrassing loss to Purdue.

Things were cruising along until we got our first big upset of the year last week. Suddenly, Ohio State has a slew of problems and everyone else is licking their chops to get a shot at Indy.

Here’s our Big Ten Football Power Rankings after week eight with a new team on top. Get in on the action and let us know where you agree or disagree by contacting us on Twitter or Facebook.

14. Rutgers (14 last week)

I’ve literally run out of things to add to this section. I guess we can say almost but no cigar — still winless in the Big Ten.

13. Nebraska (13 last week)

Well what do we have here? The ‘Huskers got Scott Frost his first win in the league. There’s no doubt the team is improving, but one overall win won’t catapult you up the rankings.

12. Illinois (12 last week)

Not much to report here. The Illini got bludgeoned by a more physical Wisconsin squad and that’s pretty standard.

11. Minnesota (11 last week)

The Golden Gophers are in danger of dropping if they keep showing us regression. This team is now in danger of missing a bowl game after losing one it had to have.
