There continue to be surprises abounding in the Big Ten. The East looks strong at the top, while the West division now appears to be as wide open as the an ocean expedition.

Here’s our Big Ten Football Power Rankings after week nine. Get in on the action and let us know where you agree or disagree by contacting us on Twitter or Facebook.

14. Rutgers (14 last week)

There’s not much else to say here. Rutgers is simply looking for improvement to turn the page to next year. Lacrosse season is coming up right?

13. Illinois (12 last week)

Just when you think the Illini have turned the page … not so much. The talent level has improved from the last couple of years but there’s still work to do in the culture department. Time to shave that Papa Smurf beard off Lovie.

12. Nebraska (13 last week)

It’s starting to look like there’s real progress being made in Lincoln. We’ll find out how much when it travels to Columbus Saturday. Adrian Martinez is going to be a load for opposing defenses in years to come.

11. Indiana (10 last week)

And … off the cliff go the Hoosiers just like past years. The folks in Bloomington are less and less likely to see their team make a bowl as the weeks go by. Hey, how ’bout those candy-striped warm-ups the basketball team wears?
