Is It Possible That Ohio State Is Still Really Good?

While Ohio State has stumbled and lost a really bad game, could it be that Ohio State is still one of the most talented team in the country, and that it just had one really bad game?

Ohio State has a plethora of talent, so much talent in fact, that the backup quarterback Joe Burrow transferred to LSU and has made a name for himself. He has set his team up for a possible playoff birth if LSU beats Alabama this week and goes on to take care of business.

Ohio State has always had an abundance of talent, and while it seems like it’s not the quite as good this year, it’s possible that we just haven’t seen the best that the Buckeyes can do this year. At running back we have two backs that have had thousand yard seasons, and two quarterbacks that have proven ability.

Don’t be fooled, Tate Martell could be starting almost anywhere in the country, and was perhaps the most highly touted signal-caller coming out of high school. His team came from one of the most talent-rich schools in the country that flew across the country in a daunting national schedule. He proved himself every step of the way.

On the defensive side of the ball, look at the abundance of first-round draft picks in recent years? The players starting now were on the bench in past years, and many are making a name for themselves now.

Mike Weber could be starting anywhere in the country, and he isn’t even seeing the majority of snaps. The point, is that Ohio State has always had an abundance of talent and it’s no different this year. In fact, there are more five-star recruits currently on this team than any other since Meyer has arrived in Columbus.

Players like Dre’mont Jones and Chase Young will find homes in the NFL when their careers are over at Ohio State. They will be like many past names such as the Bosas that have forged their names in Buckeye lore.

In the secondary, players like Jordan Fuller and Damon Arnette will also hear their names called come NFL draft time. With the talent running out of the tunnel, it makes you wonder how good the players are that are still waiting for their moment in the sun.

The talent is there for Ohio State has to win some trophies, it just has to put it all together on the field. Maybe that starts in earnest this week.
