Ohio State vs. Nebraska Buckeye Wire Staff Predictions

Through the rest of the college football season, the staff of Buckeye Wire will be providing individual score predictions for each Ohio State game. This week, it’s a bounce-back opportunity against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

It’s been a long two weeks. Ohio State got beat publicly flogged by Purdue ad then had to stew on it for two weeks before getting an opportunity to get back on the field and wash the bad taste out of its mouth.

Here’s how our staff see this game going against an improving Nebraska squad.

I think this Ohio State team is going to come out motivated and really look to put it on a porous Nebraska defense. The Buckeyes will show a renewed effort in the running game and also let Dwayne Haskins do his thing plenty as well. The defense will give up some big plays, but look much, much better.

Ohio State comes into this game angry after losing to Purdue. In a very business-like manner, OSU hangs “half a hundred on ’em” in the first half and wins going away.

I believe there will be a re-emphasis on the running game. The line will find ways to get the holes opened up and Weber and Dobbins come off the missing person list. Haskins will be his usual self putting balls where only his receivers can catch them.

The defense will remain a mystery and give up some big plays, but will also come up with some key stops to keep momentum from shifting, but the game will be closer than it should be. I previewed this and more already, so check it out.

I think OSU offense proves to be too much for Nebraska’s defense and the home crowd gets behind an angry OSU team. The defense will be a bit better for the Buckeyes but struggle some early with a duel-threat QB before settling in as the team pulls away.
