Ohio State Vs. Michigan State Preview And Prediction - Week 11

The Bucks got back on track (kind of) against two-win Nebraska on Saturday, but the curiosity of this team remains. A trip to East Lansing looms. Can the Buckeyes turn the corner and give a complete effort?

Well, a win’s a win… right? Except, nothing really felt great about about a five point victory at home over Nebraska. I agree with Coach Meyer, the Cornhuskers are much better than their record suggests, but I’m more concerned that the Bucks are not as good as an 8-1 record would lead most to believe.

There is no doubt this Ohio State team has some of the best talent in the country, but they are yet to put together a complete effort for a full 60 minute game.

It was nice to see the running game make an appearance after weeks of obscurity. But many of those yards were made with shifty moves from Dobbins and Weber or with some great blocks from the receivers. The offensive line still doesn’t seem like they are able to move anyone off the ball. And Nebraska will not be confused with the ’85 Chicago Bears.

On the flip side, Dwayne Haskins came back to earth and showed us that he is human after all. Maybe his shoulder was still sore from throwing the ball 70 plus times at Purdue. The presence of a running game should by default help the passing game, but it wasn’t the case for Haskins on Saturday. I guess everyone is entitled to an off day.

If there is any silver lining to this season, it’s that this team definitely hasn’t played even close to the level it’s capable of. It leaves us hope that maybe they can turn a corner and put it all together. Maybe, just maybe, things aren’t as bad as they seem.

Time is running short on this season and you can bet Mark Dantonio will be reminding his boys all week about the 48-3 drubbing at the hands of Ohio State last year.

Sparty has been a thorn in our scarlet and gray side in recent history. The Bucks had better come ready to play or Michigan State might have another laugh at the Buckeye’s expense.
