Big Ten Heisman Candidates - Only One Remains...

We’ve been ranking the Heisman contenders from the Big Ten all season long. After the dust settled from rivalry week, there is just one left in the discussion.

Each week we’ve taken a look at the Heisman front-runners from the Big Ten… Who’s stock was rising, falling, and what conference star had the best chance to be named the best player in college football.

At the end of the regular season, there is only one left from the Big Ten who is truly a contender for the most prestigious trophy in all of sports.

Dwayne Haskins – Ohio State, QB

Ranking Last Week: No. 1

What You Need To Know

More records fell for Dwayne Haskins in the The Game. Haskins passed Curtis Painter for passing yards in a season with 4,003 and bested Drew Breese for most touchdown passes in a season with 42. And the Buckeye QB isn’t done yet as he prepares for the Big Ten Championship Game and at least one more bowl game.

Dwayne Haskins has been prolific with his right arm this season lighting up scoreboards and opponents. But he’s also found his legs in the last two weeks rushing for almost 100 yards and three scores.

After a dominating performance against the No. 1 ranked defense in the country, Haskins moved his stock way up in the Heisman voting. In my mind, there are three who have a realistic shot: Haskins, Tua Tagovailoa, and Kyler Murray.  All three have one more chance to impress voters with conference championship games coming this week.

Let’s take a look at how each player compares.

Dwayne Haskins: 11-1 record, 4,003 yards passing, 68.9 CMP%, 42 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 127 yards rushing, 4 rushing touchdowns

Tua Tagovailoa: 12-0 record, 3,189 yards passing, 70.3 CMP%, 36 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 211 yards rushing, 5 rushing touchdowns

Kyler Murray: 11-1 record, 3,674 yards passing, 70.6 CMP%, 37 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 853 yards rushing, 11 rushing touchdowns

This is just about as close as a Heisman race can be.

Haskins Week 13 Stats
