Ohio State finally showed its full potential last week by curb-stomping the Michigan Wolverines. It came at a time when the team needs to impress the most, just like 2014.

Here are five similarities between those two years …

A First Year Quarterback with a Loaded Receiving Core

In 2014, strong armed-third string quarterback Cardale Jones took over the QB position after injuries to Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett. Jones quickly became known for his strong arm as he gained the nickname “12 gauge”. Also, Jones had a loaded receiving core with future NFL receivers Michael Thomas, Devin Smith, and Evan Spencer.

Fast forward to 2018, and Ohio State has first-year QB Dwayne Haskins at the helm. Haskins has similar characteristics to Jones, and has found himself in the race for the Heisman, as well as being a top QB prospect in the 2019 NFL draft. He also has a talented receiving core with athletes like K.J. Hill, Parris Campbell, Johnnie Dixon, and Binjimen Victor.
