Just a week ago it didn’t feel like Ohio State had much of a chance to be in this position. Most of the national media had already crowned the Wolverines the new kings of the Big Ten hill, while many in Columbus knew it could be otherwise if the Buckeyes could just put it all together. And put it all together they did!

In my preview and prediction, I said I felt like all the pressure was on Michigan. I mean, everyone expected them to win. And that’s where the weight of the world falls on one’s shoulders. Guarantees and self-proclaimed “revenge tours” makes the microscope a little more magnified.

What did Ohio State have to lose? They were expected to roll over and play dead for the coronation, and maybe that’s just what this team needed.

For the first time all season, the Bucks put together a complete effort with a high powered offense, a suffocating defense and outside of a fluke muffed kickoff, tight special teams play. This was the team Buckeye Nation had been waiting to see all year long and they showed up at the most opportune time possible.

So has this team turned a corner? We’ll find out this week as Ohio State gets ready to face a sneaky Northwestern team. Which Wildcat team will the Buckeyes face? The one who lost to Akron or the one who went toe-to-toe with the likes of Notre Dame and Michigan?

With the College Football Playoffs back in sight, one thing is for sure, Ohio State needs to focus on the task at hand: Handle your business in Indy and give the selection committee no choice but to put you in the top four.
