5. Michigan State (3 last week)
The Spartans had one heck of a defense, but the offense kept them from doing bigger things. In the end, it wasn’t the year anyone wanted in East Lansing.
4. Northwestern (5 last week)
Listen, I know the Wildcats are going to the Big Ten Championship Game, but we can’t ignore the three losses in the non-conference slate. It’s still a great year, and if the Wildcats can knock off Ohio State, then I’ll eat crow.
3. Penn State (4 last week)
The Nittany Lions were again snake-bitten by a couple of close losses and will be on the fringe of a New Year’s Six placement in the bowls. Trace McSorley rides off into the sunset.
2. Michigan (1 last week)
What a difference a week makes. Indiana exposed the Wolverine defense a bit in the previous week, and Ohio State took it and ran the Michigan defense off the field. We’ll wait to see if it was an aberration or if the Wolverines now limp through a bowl game.
1. Ohio State (2 last week)
We finally saw Ohio State put it all together against Michigan and now it must be kicking itself for the ugly loss at Purdue. We’ll find out if it’ll be the game that keeps the Buckeyes out of the Playoff of not. Either way, this team is one whale of a club when it plays motivated and angry.
