Ohio State vs. Washington In The Rose Bowl: 3 Reasons The Buckeyes Win

We’re just a few days away from another Rose Bowl at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Washington is a formidable foe, but here’s three reasons why we believe Ohio State will come out on top.

Ohio State is headed to its 15th Rose Bowl and will be matching up with Pac-12 champ Washington. The Huskies should not be taken lightly, and have more than enough talent to send Urban Meyer off in a losing fashion, but we don’t see that happening.

Here’s three reasons Ohio State wins the 105th edition of The Grandaddy Of Them All.

Dwayne Haskins And Time To Throw

Washington has a top fifteen defense and has been especially stingy against the pass, but there’s one stat that I think is very troubling for the Husky defense. It simply doesn’t get after the quarterback very much.

The Huskies only have a total of 21 sacks all year. That’s quite surprising for a unit that likes to blitz and play man-to-man on the backside. That could be a serious issue when going against Dwayne Haskins. If you give the Heisman finalist time to go through his progressions and pick out receivers, it could be a long, long day with a lot of yards and a lot of points being scored.

Just ask Michigan. It came into the game against Ohio State with one of the best pass defenses in the country and left licking its wounds 62 points later because of an inability to affect Haskins.
