Ohio state has seen a resurgence in the past year and a half in Buckeye Hoops. After the Bucks struggled in Coach Matta’s last two seasons as coach, the Scarlet and Gray had a stellar season last year, and have started this season 12-1.

Both by far exceeding very modest expectations.

The team is lead by star player and Westerville, Ohio, native, Kaleb Wesson. Guard C.J. Jackson has also had a solid year thus far, and Andre Wesson and freshman Luther Muhammad have both been a force on defense.

Of course we can’t forget the steady hand of graduate transfer Keyshawn Woods. He brings experience and rock-steady decisions at the guard spot that has been a calming effect.

The Buckeyes improved to 12-1 against High Point today, as they continue their journey to retake the Big Ten which they dominated — or at least contended — for most of Matta’s tenure. We’ll see if more of the same continues in 2019.

It all begins in earnest against Michigan State next Saturday.
