It’s almost time for the Grandaddy Of Them All and we have all your Buckeye Wire staff predictions for Ohio State vs. Washington.
Okay, here we go. It’s Urban Meyer’s last game, and it might be Dwayne Haskins swan song as well. There’s no setting like the Rose Bowl, and it’s sure to be a titanic tussle between Pac-12 champ Washington and the Big Ten champ Ohio State.
To get you ready, our staff each took a turn at predicting the game.

Washington has a formidable defense, but this Buckeye offense is on a roll. There’s no way Ohio State sends Urban Meyer out with a loss right? I think Haskins picks apart the Husky D on the way to a victory.

As I said in our preview, the defense will again give up some big plays to a better than average Huskie offense, but they will make some key plays at key moments and keep Washington from racking up a bushel of points. Ultimately, Ohio State has too many weapons on offense and wins a high scoring affair … and Urban Meyer rides into the sunset capping a legendary career.

Simply put, I believe the Buckeyes are the better team. Add momentum from the Michigan game and Big Ten Championship along with wanting to send Urban out with a Rose Bowl victory and I can’t imagine an inferior Washington team winning this game. I expect it to be a competitive first half but OSU pulls away as Haskins makes his final statement before the draft.

Since hoisting another College Football Playoff trophy is out of the equation, walking off into the sunset at the Rose Bowl is about as perfect an ending as any for Urban Meyer. Being left out of the playoff for the second-straight year after winning the Big Ten, the Buckeyes will have plenty of motivation Tuesday. Washington finished the season strong too but it’s hard to see Ohio State losing to the Huskies.

I believe the Buckeyes will have an offensive explosion New Years Day in Pasadena. The Buckeyes hung 62 points on the “unstoppable” Wolverines (well prior to the bowl), and finally seem to be clicking on all cylinders.
Ohio State has an unmatched speed in their receiving core and have Heisman candidate Dwayne Haskins leading the way in what will most likely be his last college game.
I also find it impossible that the Scarlet and Grey lose in Urban Meyer’s last game. Coach Meyer has changed the lives of his players for the better and look for them to send him off on the right note. He is a legend and will be sent off accordingly.
