Social media weighs in on Buckeyes' decision between Tate Martell and Justin Fields

The battle lines have been drawn in Columbus. The quarterback battle between incumbent Tate Martell and incoming (likely) transfer Justin Fields is going to be the position battle to watch in all of college football in 2019.

Naturally, fans are going to weigh in heavily, and they begun doing so maybe one full minute after news of Fields’ transfer was reported.

Martell spoke with Buckeye Wire after the Buckeyes’ Rose Bowl win, and suggested players who transfer are doing so in order to play, and that would be far from a lock for Fields. His main reasoning, in Martell’s words, was the time it took him to learn the offense well enough to be the kind of player Ohio State expects from that position.

At the same time, Fields oozes with natural talent, and his inability to unseat Jake Fromm from the QB1 spot at Georgia doesn’t speak to the kind of player he will likely be, given the chance.

It’s possible the Buckeyes simply can’t make a bad decision. Here are some of the best reactions we saw on Twitter.
