Ohio State Center Michael Jordan Declares For The NFL Draft

Center Michael Jordan has made his decision to enter the 2019 NFL Draft and leave the Ohio State football team a year early.

Jordan has been a mainstay on the offensive line since starting as a true freshman in 2016, the first to do so since Orlando Pace. He is also the first offensive lineman to declare for the draft early since Pace back in 1997.

In a move to help the team, Jordan was asked to move from guard to center. It’s an experiment Ohio State has used previously with Pat Elflein and Billy Price. Both experienced a much easier transition to a new position than did Jordan, as the new center had trouble with shotgun snaps early on earning him the social media nickname “Air Jordan”.

Jordan is expected to move back to guard at the next level and should be a mid round pick. His departure leaves Ohio State with only three linemen with starting experience in Thayer Munford, Wyatt Davis and Branden Bowen who started 6 games in 2017, but was recovering from injury in 2018.

Whoever the starting quarterback is at Ohio State next season, they will be playing behind a new, and less-experienced line. We at Buckeye Wire wish Jordan all the best as he looks forward to fulfilling his dreams of playing professional football.
